An ill-disguised trail leads through the woods and culminates in a jumble of pale stone ruins. The area is littered with the gnawed bones and visceral remains of various mammals. The trail leads through the mouth of a dwarf's face carved in a still standing wall. Beyond the wall is a wide grassy courtyard littered with stones and rubble. Across the way appeared to be a dwarf faced door covered in some rubble. There is no restriction on movement in this area. Feel free to discuss among yourselves and send me questions if you have them. No initiative rolls yet, but please give others time to post or respond to posts.

Sardis carefully moves into the ruin, holding his hammer and shield ready. He takes his time and inspects each bit of rubble very thoroughly before moving on to the next.

Yar moved up next to the dwarven wall entrance and began to examine it. Sardis pushed past Fingon, into the ruins, to examine the first piece of debris to the right of what passed as a trail leading deeper into the courtyard. Both of you make perception rolls.

Nadarr looks at the door. Perception check (untrained): Rolling 1d20: (5): Total = 5 Knowledge (dungeoneering) check (untrained): Rolling 1d20: (15): Total = 15 Then, he looks around without moving to see if he sees anything or hear anything: Passive Perception: 11

In 4E if you are not rushed or under pressure, you can take 10 plus your modifiers instead of rolling. Also be aware that a full search of an area takes about 1 minute. so you will not be doing anything else for a while.

Before entering Fingon will examine the entrance to the court. " I may be stating the obvious but I would say this place used to be dwarven. Or it was made by someone awfully obsessed with them."
perception
Rolling 1d20+11: (8)+11: Total = 19

The group finished up examining the entrance and discovered that the archway leading into the courtyard was cut from one large stone, but weathering had made any glyphs or writings unreadable. Without moving too far into the courtyard it appeared that parts from the wall were strewn about the courtyard in a rather haphazard manner. The trail leading into the courtyard had almost disappeared to be replaced by the rocky way. The goblin tracks that had lead the group there appeared to have disappeared. With the exception of Fingon, who had not spent any time studying the courtyard, none of the group saw anything out of the ordinary.

Not noticing anything unusual about the gate, fingon will now go over the courtyard.
