A few heavily Encouraged suggestions to make everyone's experience here as enjoyable as poassible

  • Read the various forum rules. Each GM will probably have a separate set of rules for his / her game(s)
  • Remember your face doesn't show. Words alone can convey sentiment, but without benefit of inflection or facial expression, they can be misconstrued. Use descriptive wording or emoticons to ensure your meaning is clear. By the same token, don't jump to conclusions about another person's intent in posting an unclear comment. When in doubt, ask for clarification.
  • Type in lowercase or standard case, not in all caps, unless you are conveying something a character is doing. By the rules of netiquette, all caps equates to shouting. If you type with all caps, you will annoy and possibly offend other board members.
  • Say exactly what you would say in person. In other words, if you wouldn't say it to the person's face in front of your Grandmother, you shouldn't type it into a forum. Offensive words and / or graphics will not be tolerated.
  • Be respectful. Appreciate that your opinion is one of many. You can disagree with another person without being disrespectful or rude.
  • Please, no messages that harass, insult, belittle, or threaten another member. Ignore Trolls. If you engage in conversation, you'll raise your blood pressure and empower the Troll. You can't win a flame war, and you can't sway a Troll's opinion. Often, they don't even care about the subject; they live for the conflict and nothing more. Trolls are common and not worthy of your time. Ignore their posts—no matter how inflammatory—and eventually they'll get bored and move on.
  • In the same manner please refrain from posting messages of an overly sexual nature. Try to keep it at least PG13. Flirting between characters or NPCs or saying, "My character hops in the sack with so and so." is one thing, but please, no blow by blow descriptions of the act.
  • Cross-posting (i.e. post the same message in more than one forum board) is rude. Choose the forum topic that is closest to your post, and place it there only. If you should create a post in one forum, and later realize it would be more appropriate in another forum, please delete the original before posting it again.
  • As this is a play by post forum please be sure to always include your character name in your post and to whom you are talking. This is only to avoid confusion for players and extra work for the GMs. It takes quite a bit of time to go back through the character threads and find out which character goes with which user name.

The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules.

I hate to say it, but something I personally posted brought the necessity for this Rule to the forefront for me.

Because this site is intended as a place where anyone can come and escape for a while by engaging in some fantasy. And, because different people view things through different lenses. Please refrain from posting anything of a political nature. Any, and all, such posts will be removed from the board.
